When it comes to wearing condoms, there are many objections that have been absolved over the years. Among these are that they take away all feeling during the process of making love, they are hard to find, and they never fit right.
Today, condoms come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and even have extra ornaments to make the whole scene one big party.
While there are more reasons to wear condoms than there are sexually transmitted diseases, it is important to note that there are a few, albeit very few, reasons that a man should not wear one, such as:
- Procreation
- Spiritual faith
- Greater intimacy during marital sex
Procreation is on the list of reasons not to wear a condom, but in today's day and age, it would be rather insulting to spell out why birth control is contrarian to pregnancy.
Spiritual Faith Condemning Condom Usage Should be Complemented with Abstinence
When many people think of birth control and religion, Catholicism often comes to mind. The Catholic Church still teaches that any form of birth control other than the rhythm method is a sin.
In addition to birth control being a sin, the Catholic Church (and most Christian denominations) also teaches that sex should be reserved for husbands and wives. And so, one cannot follow one spiritual law but not another and be whole in his faith. Therefore, it would seem that spiritual faith driving an unmarried man not to wear condoms would also drive him not to engage in intercourse or oral sex.
Condoms Reduce Feeling in Marital Sex
Although there are many variations of party-favor-like condoms that glow in the dark, have pictures of super heroes, and maybe even do all of the work without any effort being put forth by either partner (if not now, then maybe in the near future) the fact is that condoms do reduce the natural stimulation that is present in love making.
Christian minister, Mark Gungor, put it best in his video series, "Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage," when he said that "wearing a condom during sex is like putting a sock on your tongue before eating ice cream."
Although one effect of feeling less during sex could be that the man lasts longer, there is the equal and opposite effect of the user not feeling as much as there is less contact between the flesh. Additionally, wives whose husbands use condoms are denied their seed, preventing another dimension of closeness during intercourse.
Let it be said (again) that people engaging in sexual relationships outside of marriage, or who have partners that are straying, should be protecting themselves on all sides. One means of protection may not be enough, just as one bag at the grocery store is sometimes not sufficient for a gallon of milk. But when it comes to closeness with one's lifelong partner, condoms are rarely a solution.
